416 men took either a placebo, finasteride 5mg, or one of four dutasteride doses for 24 weeks. The higher the dutasteride dose, the more DHT it blocked and the more hair counts improved. 2.5mg came out on top, ahead of finasteride 5mg at both 12 and 24 weeks.
The PointAt 2.5mg, dutasteride blocked nearly twice the scalp DHT of finasteride 5mg — 79% vs. 41% in the same trial.
